Cotton Cossies

I have spent a considerable amount of time with my thoughts totally on designing a bikini  in cotton that has no zip! Here is my first sample pair of Vintage inspired cotton bikinis......

The thing I adore about this bikini top is the supportive bra like fit. This is very similar to the 1960's bikini tops that actually had dart fitting. Because they are made from cotton you have the fabric support which does not droop when it is wet! we all know that feeling after you emerge from the surf  discovering you need to tuck your boobs back in :)
The bikini is fully lined with swimwear lycra lining . These knickers are fabulous! They have a panel of shirring down each side which is comfy and snuggy. I added the gathered skirt front , which is very flattering and hides a little tummy too :)
Trimmed with funky ric rac, which is a total definite for retro vintage cute things , lol.....
I chose quilting cotton to make these in as there are a zillion fabric patterns to chose from which have a quirky vintage feel. It also has great durability and strength in every day wear!!!

1950's Style Tea Dress

The pattern of this dress was drafted from an original 1950's tiny dress, they were so small in those days, you have to breathe right in to try and do the zip up!  This one here is a size 10 and is made from a beautiful crisp cotton in this gorgeous yellow floral.

Bodice has front cross over panels with slight tucking. This is such a comfy dress to wear as the sleeves have underarm gussets which give great arm movement with a slender look, very popular in the 50's. This dress is available , and can be made to order. $180.

Of course no Tea Dress is fully complete without a tulle petticoat!!

Dress and petticoat , makes the waist look so tiny :)
so you don't have to breathe in :)

Cotton Day Dress

I always am excited when I see dresses which capture the beauty of the fashion our mothers wore. I still remember as a child looking through mums photos from when she was young and dating, admiring the dresses she had. There is a feminine beauty from yesteryear which is timeless and loved by many women of today.

This is a beautiful pattern for a cotton day dress. The bodice has bust and waist darts, with tucks stitched in at the front and back neck line. The skirt has been cut on the bias which gives a beautiful floaty feel. Small cap sleeves and a back invisible zipper. Very comfy dress to wear, so light and cool.
Available at Vintage Stitches.

Satin Flower Girl

Flower girl dresses are such a delight to make. Here is Remi in her cream satin gown looking

Remi's dress was drafted from a picture her mother had drawn, after I took Remi's measurements I was able to start creating. Remi came in for one fitting, to check the zip placement and measure the hem. She was almost jumping out of her skin when the dress was finally ready for her to wear, such a long wait for a little princess :)

Cute Cotton Cossies

I am just loving making these cute cotton Cossies. This pair have been adapted from my first sample pattern, working with a fit that is more comfy. It is so much fun matching the vintage buttons and  ric rac trim with the fabric pattern. There are some lovely fabrics around especially the quilting fabs. I will be finalising the patterns soon and grading them for size. Then a new range will be available for sale!!
